Miss Forget Me Not

Our new Pageant Partner is Miss Forget Me Not. Learn a little bit about the Role Model that started this pageant: Roselyn

Advocacy and support of the Alzheimer’s Association is important to Roselyn. She lost her Pappaw to this disease in 2016. After he died, she started selling lemonade to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

In 2017, she started a pageant called Miss Forget Me Not in her town to bring awareness and support for this disease. Now, her pageant includes contestants from all over Washington and Oregon. Her pageant queens have sold lemonade, put flamingos in people’s yards, held garage sales, had a family fun race, raised awareness, and made care packages. Since his death, she has been a Grand Champion at her Walk to End Alzheimer’s twice and an Elite Grand Champion once. She has raised almost $8,000 for the cause. During this time, she has created the “Unforgettable Queens Project” to encourage other sister queens to send letters and cards to residents of care centers. The cards use the lyrics of Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable” to remind them they are not forgotten during this time.

She is an advocate at the Washington state Capitol and has spent time talking to legislators, writing letters, and speaking up for the families and caregivers. She loves to visit the care centers and show love to the residents. She talks about her mission to anyone who will listen. One day, she hopes to find a cure for Alzheimer’s as a medical researcher!

She also helps other organizations like Susan G. Komen, Relay for Life, Operation Christmas Child, Give Hope Global, Manfisher Ministries, Make a Splash Foundation, the local animal shelters, and Spokane Parks Foundation.
